My name is Cory McAbee. I am the founder of Captain Ahab’s Motorcycle Club; a global art collaborative designed to build international solidarity by producing a feature film. Attention brought to this project and sales of the completed film will be used to generate awareness and funds to aid in the protection and restoration of pollinators. The film is called Small Star Seminar. It is a road-film, concert documentary, fantasy, feature. It is being developed in part through a fellowship at the Sundance Film Festival New Frontier Story Lab.
By working together to create art and to protect our planet we can also protect our mental health and well-being. Climate change is having negative psychological effects on many people. There was a time when I was emotionally beaten down by the scare tactics and hate propaganda that were being circulated by people who I agree with. For everyone’s sake I hope their tactics work, but they had a bad effect on me. We all need to be a part of the conversation and efforts, but some of us need to take a positive and empowering approach. That’s what this project is.
