Charcoal and Star
Eighty-four 4.5″x4.5″ portraits that were made by rubbing charcoal through 3 hand-cut stencils. Because of the crumbling nature of charcoal, the clumsiness of this method and the changing condition of the 3 paper stencils each frame is unique. The image was derived from a photo taken by Scott McDermott in 2019.
